I am interested in exploring the causes of climate change, specifically focusing on the average person and their habits related to food production and waste. Products and packaging for food account for a large percentage of items in landfills. More significant issues include large amounts of carbon emissions from meat production and wasting food once it is produced. As a result of overconsumption and public consumerism, approximately one-third of all food produced is wasted, nearly 1.3 billion tons a year. Ironically, food wastes are primarily made up of fruits and vegetables. My paintings create a new conversation about global warming and connect the average person to this critical topic. In my work, I use various techniques to emphasize this issue and to help the viewer relate to the subject matter.
