Paul Best

Artist
Southampton
United Kingdom
Paul's work is principally focused on interpreting and expressing a sense of place. He seeks to express the unique quality of places... landscapes, seascapes and townscapes. He combines his work as an artist with his practice in landscape architecture.

For Paul painting remains the most immediate and expressive of all artistic practices. He is drawn to painting mainly landscapes and seascapes. He exhibits on line and sells his paintings at a number of Hampshire and Isle of Wight based Art Galleries and Shops and now has paintings in collections across the UK and in America, Switzerland, Spain, the Caribbean and Australia.

He particularly likes to create textured paintings and often incorporates gels and pastes and sometimes applies gold leaf. He mostly always incorporates reflective paints in the work to capture and reflect the light. He will usually combine the use of palette knife and soften this with brush work.

He is inspired by the enduring 'impressionist' masters: Turner, Klimt, Monet, Cezanne, Matisse, and also the more contemporary landscape painters, Mackintosh, Hitchens, Manrique, Heron, Rae, Tress ... and he describes his paintings as broadly impressionistic.

All work is initialled on the front and signed on the back and is supplied with a signed certificate of authenticity. Most work will be corded and ready to hang. Paintings will be wrapped in bubble wrap and secured in strong cardboard packaging for delivery.

'My Hermes' Courier will be used for deliveries within the UK and mostly ' Parcels to Go' for international deliveries as these have proved to be reliable. If the country is not listed then please do contact Paul and he will determine the shipping cost. If import duties are due, then I am afraid that buyers are responsible for paying those import fees as these will vary from country to country.
