Ever since the early 1990s, my home country Yugoslavia had been experiencing a growing turmoil. The subsequent war years greatly influenced my work and my life. Supporting me, using my artistic painting skills honed after graduating from the Fine Arts Academy in 2004 gaining a Major in Painting, proved more and more difficult. Moving overseas broadened my horizons and opportunities.
I first moved to Bahrain in the Middle East, during 2005, where I built my reputation and successfully sold many artworks to Bahraini and European clients. I subsequently moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE during 2006. The Middle East culture began to influence my painting during this period and since then I have developed through my painting, an expressive style, reflective of these many influences.
Also drawing on childhood memories and parental guidance I have furthered my passion for nature and the Burdock flower. This symbolizes the strengths I used to override the brutality of war. It gave me a protection and defense against the fear often experienced during war by capturing a dignified beauty.
Subsequently in developing my painting style finds my internal world blending with outside elements, coalesced together, so they coexist in an ongoing narrative.
Through my art, I am trying to connect my inner world with the outside reality in a structure of a dialogue with a far bigger intention.
