I'm a self-taught painter, currently working and living in Paris. I grew up between Paris and Rome, and have been nourished by both contemporary and classical art. I am attracted by the process of mixing contradictory influences, which results in an undefined universality, beyond identity or self. That?s why I use mixed techniques on canvas : oil, acrylic, spray, collage, brush, fingers, papers?
What I enjoy most about painting is the infinity of expression, but still bounded by a frame - serving as window, or as mirror. I am looking for the surprising error, the chance incident which reveals beauty, the mistake which sets you free to go in some new direction. I work on instinctive compositions, where my purpose is to reach a balance of dissonance. I often get lost in the middle of a painting. Getting out of the maze takes time and perseverance, until the painting finally stands alone and by itself. Painting is a mental and physical travel across abstract feelings, waiting, wanting to be discovered.
