At the beginning of a painting, I usually have a color composition in mind that goes along with a certain mood or spirit. Having started with dynamic gestures and expressive moves, in the later phases I try to strike the right balance between the influence of serendipity and a certain artistic control over what happens on the canvas. In saying so, my paintings are both ?found? and ?created?. Or putting it differently, the artistic process is like riding a bicycle hands-free: Only with a certain mastery of the vehicle underlying every move, one can enjoy the freedom of the ride.
My artwork is usually rich in color, conveying strong emotions yet with a subtle sense of mystery and discovery of what may have been hidden behind the surfaces. My work is supposed to invite the viewer to let their eyes wander across the paintings? layers and discern the differences in color, contrasts in finish and the variation of structures.
I have been born and raised at the lake of Constance and am currently living and working in Munich, Germany.
